Abiye Sekibo is a Nigerian businessman and politician. Born on February 4, 1962, in Okrika, Rivers State, Nigeria, he is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Sekibo attended the University of Port Harcourt, where he obtained a degree in Finance and Banking.
In 2003, Sekibo was elected to the Nigerian Senate to represent Rivers East constituency, a position he held until 2007. During his time in the Senate, he served as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and other Financial Institutions.
Sekibo is also a successful businessman and was the founder and CEO of the Oceanic Bank International Plc, which he established in 1990. The bank, which was one of the largest in Nigeria, merged with the Ecobank Transnational Incorporated in 2011.
Abiye Sekibo is a philanthropist and is actively involved in various initiatives aimed at developing his home state, Rivers State. He is also a member of several professional bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.
